Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney has made a surprising claim about Chelsea legend John Terry.
According to Rooney, John Terry is one of the best penalty takers he has ever seen.
The former Chelsea captain infamously missed from the penalty spot in the 2008 Champions League final against Manchester United.
John Terry should have won Chelsea the Champions League in 2008, but he missed a crucial kick. Manchester United went on to win the trophy.
For Terry, he never got to take another penalty for Chelsea. Interestingly, Wayne Rooney has claimed John Terry was great in penalty taking, having trained with him in the England national team.
“How can Jamie Carragher be taking a penalty in a shootout? That is shocking!” said Rooney, talking to SkyBet, mocking the Sky Sports pundit failing from the penalty spot in a 2006 World Cup quarter final shootout.
“The only thing I would say is John Terry was one of the best penalty takers I’ve ever seen, honestly, in training.
“I went off the pitch in the Champions League final, I’m looking at him because I’ve seen him in training with England. I’m watching him walking up and I’m thinking, ‘It’s over’ – thankfully he slipped!”
