Premier League to make 6 key changes to VAR next season. See how it will affect Chelsea

VAR has actually come to stay in the Premier League, and rightly so.

Wolves had demanded for VAR to be scrapped at the end of the season, but every other club voted in favour of retaining VAR, although they asked for improvements to it.

The Premier League will retain VAR next season and implement six key changes:

  • Higher threshold for VAR intervention to reduce interruptions.
  • Semi-automated offside technology to minimize delays.
  • In-stadium announcements post-VAR decision.
  • Enhanced VAR training for consistency.
  • Increased transparency and communication regarding VAR.
  • Launch of a fan and stakeholder communication campaign about VAR.
