Mykhailo Mudryk signed for Chelsea in January 2023, in a deal that could rise up to £89m.

The 23-year-old has struggled at Stamford Bridge, and never looked his best under previous managers at Chelsea. Only 23 of his 41 appearances last season came from the start.

Mudryk now has to prove himself under new manager Enzo Maresca.

Premier League icon Alan Shearer thinks the Ukrainian can still come good, and believes Mudryk needs a bit more work.

Speaking on The Rest is Football podcast, Shearer said: “There’s something in there.

“It’s been very difficult for him at Chelsea. But I look at him and there’s something there but he needs a lot of work.”

Fellow pundit Micah Richards agreed with Shearer, and asked that Enzo Maresca gives more time to Mudryk.

He chipped in: “He’s definitely got something.

“He needs a manager to believe in him and he needs a run of games, even if he has three or four stinkers, that he can just build up that confidence.

“Wingers are like that aren’t they? They need that confidence to really kick on.”
