There have been talks about Chelsea selling some top home-grown players to balance the books this summer.
One of such players is Conor Gallagher. Chelsea are desperate to avoid Gallagher leaving on a free transfer next summer.
The Blues are under financial pressure and need to find a way to make profit in order to comply with profit and sustainability rules (PSR).
Clubs who are under PSR pressure may look to selling academy graduates – such as Gallagher – as they represent pure profit on the balance sheet.
Meanwhile, the legendary Harry Redknapp has urged the Blues to do everything they can to keep Conor Gallagher at Stamford Bridge, even if it means selling a number of recent flops.
Chelsea have spent over £1 billion on players since Todd Boehly and his team took over from Roman Abramovich in May 2022.
A good number of the new signings have failed to justify their hefty price tags.
Harry Redknapp has advised Chelsea to sell their flops and keep Conor Gallagher if need be.
“If Chelsea are looking to go anywhere next season, then they really need to look to keep the likes of Conor Gallagher and their homegrown players if they can,” Redknapp told Metro.co.uk via Sorare.
“If it was me, I’d keep him and sell some of the players they’ve bought who have been so average.”
