According to reports from Colombia, Chelsea have agreed to a £42 million deal to sign Aston Villa striker Jhon Duran.

Strong reports have linked Chelsea with a move for the Villa striker, as Chelsea seek to sign a new striker this summer.

According to Colombia’s Guillermo Arango, the club have now reached an agreement with Villa over a £42m transfer fee.

Arango reports that Chelsea are now in talks with Jhon Duran over his contract.

Duran, a Colombian international, joined Aston Villa from Chicago Fire in January 2023 for £18 million but has found limited playing time behind Ollie Watkins.

Despite scoring four goals in 35 appearances, Duran has not started a Premier League game, prompting his interest in a move for more opportunities.

This acquisition adds to Chelsea’s efforts to bolster their attacking options, alongside other summer signings and pursuits, such as their interest in Michael Olise from Crystal Palace.

Duran will face competition for a starting spot from players like Christopher Nkunku and Nicolas Jackson.

Chelsea fans hope this addition will help address the team’s struggles in front of goal as they seek to improve their standing in the Premier League under new head coach Enzo Maresca.
