Premier League clubs have voted against scrapping VAR, despite Wolves’ proposal to abolish the system due to several controversial decisions.
Wolves were the only club to vote for the removal of VAR at the Premier League AGM.
Chelsea, as well as majority of clubs supported improving VAR rather than removing it, focusing on reducing delays, enhancing fan experience, and increasing transparency.
Semi-Automated Offside Technology (SAOT) will be introduced in autumn 2024 to speed up decisions and improve accuracy.
Any change to Premier League rules requires at least 14 of the 20 clubs to vote in favour.
