Filip Jorgensen, the Villarreal goalkeeper, has reacted positively to the links with Chelsea.

The Blues have shown strong interest in the 22-year-old as they seek to bolster their goalkeeping options for the upcoming season under new manager Enzo Maresca.

Chelsea have reportedly made initial inquiries and believe they can sign Jorgensen for around £20 million, although his release clause is closer to £35 million.

“It is fun,” Villarreal goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen said about reports linking him to Chelsea.

“It shows that I have done something good and done it well. It is hard to say (about the future). I just want to get better every day and do the best I can.

“There is no definite plan. If something good comes up, we can talk about it and look at what is best for me, for Villarreal and everyone involved.”

Jorgensen’s ability to make crucial saves and his comfort with the ball at his feet make him an ideal candidate for Maresca’s style of play.

Despite a challenging season with Villarreal, where he conceded 64 goals in 37 appearances, his individual performances have caught the attention of Chelsea scouts.
