Mauricio Pochettino has been axed from the Chelsea job, after just one season at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea announced on Tuesday evening that they had parted ways with Pochettino by mutual consent.
Chelsea sporting directors Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley, had claimed they’d welcome Pochettino back to Stamford Bridge at any time.
They said via a statement: “On behalf of everyone at Chelsea, we would like to express our gratitude to Mauricio for his service this season.
“He will be welcome back to Stamford Bridge any time and we wish him all the very best in his future coaching career.”
Meanwhile, Mauricio Pochettino is set to make a return to Stamford Bridge for the Soccer Aid charity match, just under two weeks after his unexpected departure from Chelsea. Scheduled for June 9.
The event will see Pochettino manage the World XI team against an England XI led by Chelsea legend Frank Lampard.
This return has sparked conversations among fans, given the recent nature of his exit from Chelsea.
The match aims to support UNICEF, featuring a mix of celebrities and former football stars to raise funds for the organization.
