It has been an eventful week for Chelsea, as Chelsea let go of Mauricio Pochettino on Tuesday.

Chelsea announced on Tuesday evening that they had parted ways with Mauricio Pochettino by mutual consent and have now begun the search for a new manager.

A host of names have been linked with the job, with Ipswich Town manager Kieran McKenna believed to be the favourite. Former Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi is also believed to be on the shortlist.

Reports however claim that Chelsea have spoken to Thomas Tuchel whether he’d be interested in returning to Stamford Bridge.

Reports from Sky Germany even claim ‘relaxed discussions’ have taken place in the past few days with Tuchel, before a decision on Pochettino’s future had even been confirmed.

Thomas Tuchel is currently available, after a brief spell with Bayern Munich.

For many, the decision to part ways with Mauricio Pochettino is a strange one, as Todd Boehly just keeps making huge mistakes after another.

Reacting to the development, former Premier League star Darren Bent in a chat with Talksport, stated that Pochettino should have been given more time to achieve his goals.

Bent stated: “[It’s] embarrassing. Pochettino has had his critics this season, right, and he finally gets this Chelsea squad, which has been put together, so many players, so much different change, he finally gets them to a point where it starts to look like my team and they get rid of him.

“No, you have got to give him next season. You cannot let him do that work.

“Like the way they ended the season was incredible. I think they were one of the in-form sides, up there with Arsenal and Manchester City, the last five to 10 games.

“You can’t get rid of him now. He is now getting a tune out of some of these players. [Moises] Caicedo looks brilliant, scored a great goal. Stick with him.”
