Nothing seems to be certain yet about the future of Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino, as the Chelsea board are yet to decide whether he’d continue next season, after a season filled with rumours of a sack.
According to reports, Pochettino will sit down with the Chelsea board to discuss his future at Stamford Bridge.
The season ended on Sunday, and Pochettino managed to convince after a brilliant end-of-season run.
Chelsea managed to get European football under Pochettino, but Chelsea were in mid-table most of the season, which was worrisome.
Pochettino could still leave Chelsea in the coming days according to reports, and this meeting will be crucial.
According to London World journalist Rahman Osman, Pochettino also has a demand of his own – he wants to control transfers to an extent.
Chelsea board have gone on a mad spending spree since taking over the club, without the consent of the manager, and Pochettino wants a change.
Osman writes: “All Pochettino wants is to have a say on transfers if he’s going to be the manager of Chelsea.
“Every top manager will want that and the last 10 games have shown he’s a very good manager. Interesting days ahead.”
Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand does not believe Pochettino will be in charge of Chelsea next season.
Ferdinand now believes the writing is on the wall for Pochettino despite the upturn in Chelsea’s results and says he has heard whispers of a likely sack.
Speaking on his FIVE YouTube channel, Ferdinand said: “I reckon there will be a managerial merry-go-round. And from what I’m hearing about Pochettino, I’m not sure he’s going to be there at Chelsea.
“The mutterings I’m hearing coming out, I don’t know if it’s going to end well there.”
When it was suggested Pochettino has now won over the fans and should be backed, Ferdinand continued: “But I don’t think it’s in their hands.
“It’s the hierarchy and I think there could be a decision being made between those guys. I don’t think he’ll be there, if I was a betting man.”
