Chelsea sealed a spot in Europe after a 2-1 win over Bournemouth in the final day of the season.

Chelsea finished the season in sixth, after five consecutive victories saw the Blues leap from mid-table to a top six finish.

Mauricio Pochettino did not join Chelsea players in a lap of appreciation at Stamford Bridge and did not address the fans after the final game of the season.

Is there an issue? Pochettino didn’t say so.

When asked at a press conference why he didn’t join the lap of appreciation, Pochettino gave a response that didn’t really make much sense.

“When the players started, Adrian [press officer] said I need to go inside,” Pochettino said.

Meanwhile, Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino had said that a top six finish isn’t good enough for a club like Chelsea.

“We were talking this morning as a staff – it’s not enough for us,” Chelsea boss Pochettino said.

“We’re not going to celebrate and take a picture finishing fifth or sixth and Europe.

“It’s not enough for the club. It’s not enough for the owners, the sporting directors or the players.

“But with all the circumstances, I feel satisfaction and to finish positively and in a very good way, with general opinion about optimism and very positive… when you feel that, you need to congratulate a good job. But, it’s not enough in a club like Chelsea, for sure.”
