It was an emotional evening for Thiago Silva, as he played his final game for Chelsea.
Chelsea beat Bournemouth 2-1 at Stamford Bridge, with the football legend getting the opportunity to say goodbye to Chelsea fans.
Ahead of his final game for the Blues, supporters at Stamford Bridge put on a fantastic display, unveiling two brilliant banners to honour Thiago Silva.
One of which showed Silva holding the Chelsea badge in front of the Brazil flag with the caption, ‘obrigado o monstro, um de nos’ – which means, ‘thank you the monster, one of us’ in English. Another tifo displayed a picture of him with the caption, ‘he came from PSG to win the Champions League.’
In the moments building up to kick-off against Bournemouth on Sunday afternoon, Chelsea supporters were also heard chanting, ‘oh, Thiago Silva!’
In an interview with Sky Sports ahead of the clash, Silva sent his teammates a clear message to play for the badge, and Blues fans acknowledged that he knows what it means to play for Chelsea.
The centre-back took the stage after full-time to thank his teammates, fans, and even Frank Lampard and Marina Granovskaia who brought him to Stamford Bridge in 2020.
He ended his speech: “My dream is to see my kids play for you. Thanks Chelsea, Thanks to the fans, I love you all, bye-bye.”
