It was a moment of carelessness for Chelsea captain Reece James, as he was given a red card against Brighton.
The red card to the Blues captain nearly cost the team, as Chelsea had a comfortable 2-0 lead which was nearly levelled.
The Chelsea captain kicked out at Brighton star Joao Pedro and was sent off after a VAR check with just two minutes of normal time left.
Joao Pedro had fouled Reece James, who in turn lunged at him while on the ground.
That wasn’t captain material from James, as Chelsea nearly lost a comfortable 2-0 lead.
James had only been on for 17 minutes before being sent off for violent conduct.
The red card now means Reece James will miss Chelsea’s last game of the season. It also means he will be suspended for four games due to it being his second offence.
Reece James was given a red last November, in Chelsea’s 4-1 defeat to Newcastle; in another show of madness from the young captain.
As captain, James must learn and do better.
