Reece James is determined to help Chelsea qualify for the Champions League following his impactful return against Nottingham Forest.
After a five-month absence due to a hamstring injury, James entered the game as a substitute and quickly made his mark, providing the assist for Nicolas Jackson’s winning goal with an accurate cross from the right—all within three minutes of his introduction.
The victory elevated Chelsea to seventh in the league standings as they pursue Europa League qualification after a challenging season.
However, James has set his ambitions on a higher goal, insisting that Chelsea should return to the Champions League.
“We’re learning every day,” James told Chelsea TV.
“We’re still young and during the season we’ve had a few off days, but on the whole we’ve improved and we’re coming strong towards the end of the season.
“Europe is one of the highest levels in club football and we’re one of the biggest clubs in club football, so we want to be pushing each season to be knocking on the door for the Champions League. That’s the aim.”
