Chelsea have been told they need a top striker next season, and the Blues have been linked with a number of big names.

Victor Osimhen is seen as one of the biggest names on Chelsea’s list.

However, former Chelsea midfielder Emmanuel Petit has asked Chelsea to keep faith with Nicolas Jackson.

Nicolas Jackson has scored 16 goals in all competitions for Chelsea this season, with 13 coming in the Premier League.

Jackson has however faced massive pressure for missing so many big chances. Petit however believes Nicolas Jackson has improved a lot, and could do better next season.

“Individually, several players have improved for Chelsea in recent games and Jackson is one of them,” the former Chelsea midfielder told Grosvenor Sport.

“More players need to improve, though, and then he will get even better. I’m confident he will score more goals when they get better collectively and so far he’s had a good first season.

“If they keep Pochettino he will only get better. I’m confident he can score 30 goals next season.”

He added: “Chelsea do not need Osimhen or Isak. We all know about the No.9 curse at Chelsea and in the last couple of months, we’ve seen what Jackson can do.

“There’s no need to put more pressure on him by signing someone like Isak on his back. You need competition in every position, but when you have someone like Jackson starting to emerge, don’t put pressure on him and let him explode.

“For me, if I’m Chelsea, I’m not buying Isak as Jackson is already beginning to flourish.”

Good talk. With the exception of Costa, Chelsea doesn’t have a history of having established strikers flourish. Kezman, chevchenko, Morata, Lukaku name them. They all missed great scoring chances. Drogba wasn’t established in Europe when he joined Chelsea. If Chelsea buys the so called world class striker today it may not work out.
