According to report on Metro, Chelsea head coach Mauricio Pochettino has been given an ‘ultimatum’ by the Chelsea board regarding his future at Stamford Bridge.
The Chelsea board plans to assess Pochettino’s performance after his first season in charge.
Despite earlier reports suggesting Chelsea had a replacement lined up for Pochettino, his prospects of remaining with the club have improved following a string of successful results.
Chelsea has secured victories in our last three Premier League home games, scoring 13 goals and conceding none. The Blues achieved a 6-0 win against Everton, a 2-0 victory over Tottenham, and a 5-0 win against West Ham.
These outcomes have positioned Chelsea seventh in the league standings, just two points shy of sixth-place Newcastle United and four points behind fifth-place Tottenham.
The board has reportedly set a clear condition for Pochettino: he will retain his position as Chelsea boss if Chelsea secure a spot in next season’s Europa League.
Chelsea must finish sixth to guarantee Europa League qualification, barring Manchester United finishing seventh or lower and winning the FA Cup final against Manchester City.
If United win the FA Cup and Chelsea finishes sixth, Chelsea would then qualify for the Europa Conference League instead.
