Just a week ago, we were celebrating a massive Chelsea 6-0 victory over Everton at Stamford Bridge.
Exactly a week and a day after beating Everton 6-0, Chelsea have been hammered 5-0 by a rampaging Arsenal side at the Emirates Stadium.
The game buttressed the inconsistencies that have been associated with Chelsea this season.
However, Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino has decided not to blame his young players for the defeat.
“When we have bad days, we are so bad. We are capable of being very good and then a few days later being very bad,” Pochettino said after Chelsea lost 5-0 to Arsenal.
“I’m not going to blame the players. The circumstances are bigger than the performance here. We cannot blame young guys that came here after suffering circumstances and came here to fight against a team fighting to win the Premier League.
“We need to be careful, we can be unhappy with our performance but I am not going to use a word [like embarrassed] that is unfair to the players in our squad.”
