Chelsea sold Kai Havertz to Arsenal last summer, while Jorginho was also let go of last January.

Signed for a huge fee of £71m from Bayer Leverkusen in the summer of 2000, Kai Havertz never really reached his best heights at Stamford Bridge.

Havertz swapped Stamford Bridge for the Emirates Stadium last summer in a deal worth £65million.

After initially struggling to settle in at Arsenal, Havertz has become a key man for Mikel Arteta’s side.

Kai Havertz, now 24, scored 19 goals in 91 Premier League appearances for Chelsea, but is best remembered for netting the winner in the 2021 Champions League final against Manchester City.

Kai Havertz netted a brace against his former club, as Arsenal beat Chelsea 5-0 at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday night.

Speaking after the game, Gunners boss Mikel Arteta was glad to have both Havertz and Jorginho at Arsenal.

He said: “We have missed Thomas since August, and he’s a big player for us, but that has given chances to other players. For Declan [Rice] to play as a No.6 and then rediscover him as a No.8.

“Playing Kai as a No.9 too, and the contribution of Jorgi [Jorginho] has been absolutely phenomenal as well. The team has resources and has to find different ways of winning, acting and interchanging their qualities. I’m really happy.”

Arteta added: “Also when you play Declan, Kai and Martin [Odegaard] and when you play Emile[Smith Rowe] in there and when you play Jorgi as well for sure because we’ve won some big games with him in there.

“Depends on the game, on the state, on the opponent as well. It’s great because everyone feels really important as well. I think that’s something really important there.”
