Carlo Ancelotti admits Manchester City and Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea are the only teams that have made him feel this way in recent years

Real Madrid settled their Champions League quarter-final clash against Manchester City on penalties.

Both sides had played out a thrilling 3-3 draw at the Santiago Bernabeu, before a 1-1 draw after 120 minutes at the Etihad Stadium.

Real Madrid ended up winning the tie 4-3 on penalties.

Carlo Ancelotti is usually calm on the touchline, but has admitted he felt nervous against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.

The Italian admitted Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea were the last team to make him feel this way.

Carlo Ancelotti said after playing Manchester City: “I am proud. Never leave Real Madrid for dead. Real Madrid never dies.

“I have not been this nervous since the comeback against Chelsea. How do I stay so calm? Sorry, I have no energy left.

“Pep Guardiola congratulated us and wished us luck, he is a gentleman, as always.”

Chelsea were a tough nut to crack in the Champions League under Thomas Tuchel. The Blues often made life difficult for Real Madrid.

In 2021, Chelsea knocked Real Madrid out of the Champions League in the semi-final. The following year, Chelsea were beaten 3-1 at Stamford Bridge in the first leg, but turned around the in second leg going 3-0 up, and even had a fourth goal ruled out by VAR. Real Madrid will score a late goal and then win the tie in extra-time.
