It’s a shame and I don’t want it to happen again – Angry Pochettino reveals who to blame and finally settles penalty row

Chelsea defeated Everton 6-0 at Stamford Bridge on Monday night.

For all of Chelsea’s artistry on display, a rather bizarre incident has been the talking point of this game between Chelsea and Everton.

A bizarre thing happened in the second-half when Chelsea were leading 4-0.

Referee Paul Tierney had pointed to the penalty spot for a penalty, following a harsh tackle on Cole Palmer.

Nicolas Jackson initially took the ball to take the penalty, but Noni Madueke tried to take the ball from the Chelsea striker, which caused an argument between the pair.

Chelsea captain Conor Gallagher then took the ball and handed it to Cole Palmer, who has been a regular penalty taker for Chelsea.

Even at that point, Noni Madueke and Nicolas Jackson were still furious that Palmer was going to take the penalty.

Blues boss Mauricio Pochettino has waded into the penalty incident, and has slammed Madueke and Jackson for their attitude.

Pochettino has now maintained that Cole Palmer is the team’s main penalty taker.

Asked about the incident, an angry Pochettino said: “It’s a shame, it’s a shame. It’s a shame because we cannot behave in this way.

“I told them it’s the last time I accept this type of behaviour. If we want to be a team and win things we need to think in the collective way.

“I made that clear to them. Cole Palmer is our taker, if he wants to give the penalty to someone else he can but not in this way. It is a sad situation and I don’t want it to happen again.

“It’s a process for a young team who need to learn a lot. But it’s the last time I want to see something like this. I want to apologise to the fans.”

  1. Jackson and madueke can’t be on top with this type of immaturity in their way of thinking. Yes you want to score to gain recognition then put on a palmer like performance for you to be on top, not like this.
