Liverpool legend Graeme Souness still can’t wrap his head around why Manchester City sold off Cole Palmer.

Cole Palmer has been a brilliant signing for Chelsea since joining the Blues over the summer, following a £40m transfer deal.

The former Liverpool defender believes the club may have told Pep Guardiola that Cole Palmer should be sold for FFP reasons.

“If you’re Pep Guardiola and Pep sanctioned a move, he said, ‘Yeah, we can sell him’, I think that maybe tells you… they may say to be kind to the boy, ‘We had to cash in because of financial fair play’.

“I don’t think he sells him, that’s the top and bottom of it. I don’t think you sell him.

“If you really, really think he’s going to be a top, top player, you don’t sell him.”
