Chelsea are expected to face a profit and sustainability charge from the Premier League, from breaches committed under the ownership of Roman Abramovich.
According to Football Insider, Chelsea await charges for their conduct under former owner Roman Abramovich, and the sanctions are expected ‘sooner rather than later’, the report says.
Last summer, Chelsea were fined £8.6million by UEFA for historical breaches under the Abramovich era. The sanctions could even have been more serious if Chelsea had not reported those breaches themselves.
Chelsea are hopeful that the punishment will be softened, as the new owners are collaborating with the Premier League.
Chelsea under the new owners however insist that they have not broken any spending rules after the ownership change.
