England lost 1-0 to Brazil in a friendly game at Wembley on Saturday, with Real Madrid youngster the hero of the day for Brazil.
Real Madrid youngster, Endrick, came off the bench to score the game’s only goal in the 80th minute.
17-year-old Endrick broke a Wembley record with his goal contribution.
Endrick became the youngest ever male scorer in a senior professional game at Wembley Stadium, following his goal against England.
At the age of 17 years and 246 days, Endrick has now become the youngest scorer at Wembley, as he scored his first goal for Brazil in the process and ending England’s 21-game unbeaten streak at their national stadium.
Endrick will join Real Madrid in July, and the teenager comes highly rated. The twist however is that Endrick could have been a Chelsea player by now.
Chelsea were the favourites to sign Endrick, but the Blues missed out on the deal due to cold feet. Real Madrid will go on to splash the cash on Endrick.
Chelsea have been told they have learnt a valuable lesson from this deal.
“I think Real decided that they were never going to miss another talent like Vini or Endrick after Neymar moved to Barcelona,” Frederico Pena told the Daily Telegraph.
“Maybe there is a lesson for Chelsea because they were in front at the start.
“The boy’s parents visited Cobham and were impressed, but Chelsea were worried about the fee and then when Real came in and were prepared to pay what Palmeiras wanted, it became almost impossible for them.”
Endrick has opened up on his failed transfer to Chelsea.
“At one point, there was a lot of talk about Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe for Madrid and that was when there was strong interest from Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain,” the 17-year-old told The Athletic.
“Of course, they are big and important teams. I am very interested in them and they would be excellent options.
“I was attracted by the Premier League, the city of London and the fact that English is the economically dominant language in the world. And obviously, Chelsea is a strong brand that has won two Champions Leagues.
“I was told that it rains a lot in London, but that wouldn’t be a problem because, as my father used to say, I always liked playing in the rain,” Endrick added. “But I always made it clear to my agent that my dream was Real Madrid.
“Whenever there are high-level players within the team, the team will develop better, and consequently, it will be able to win in attitude, right? So whatever is best for Real Madrid and the entire team, let it be done.
“I just want to be happy playing my football like I always wanted. Obviously, if I can play with Vinicius, Rodrygo or Kylian it will be something very good, but Florentino [Perez] and all the people around him know what to do which will be better for the club.”
