Chelsea players have rallied around Raheem Sterling, showing him support after the forward apologised for his performance against Leicester City.
Sterling had a poor game and also missed a penalty kick that would have eased Chelsea into victory against the Foxes.
Addressing Chelsea fans on social media, Raheem Sterling wrote after the game: “Wembley Bound. To all the Chelsea fans, apologies for the penalty miss.
“I’ll be back 10x times stronger to help the team win and continue to keep fighting for the badge every single day. Let’s go Blues.”
Madueke was the player who came on for Sterling towards the end of the game, and scored a brilliant goal to secure a 4-2 win.
Responding to Sterling’s apology, Madueke snapped back at a fan who remained unhappy with Sterling after his apology.
Cole Palmer also told Sterling he has no reason to apologise.
Carney Chukwuemeka who was among the scorers in the win over Leicester City, also sent a message of support to Raheem Sterling.
Asked by the Evening Standard if Sterling can handle the criticism, Chukwuemeka said: “100 per cent, Raheem is an experienced player who has had an amazing career.
“We know what a great footballer he is. He has had goals, assists and won so many penalties this season. It happens at the end of the day, he is human and players miss chances.
“He had an off day and for sure we stick behind him. Let’s not forget, he got an assist for Cole’s goal.
“For us youngsters – especially for me, Noni and Cole – Raheem has helped us a lot since we came here.
“He is always on us showing what we can do well and what to improve on. He is always on us, inside and outside football, Raheem is a big part of what we do. He is like my big brother.”
I appreciated you all my players and I Raheem sterling for work done .I was watched here in Africa ???? yesterday there is no doubt about penalty missed by Raheem sterling all human on this world ???? have mistake and you can’t be blame why you can do this. we Chelsea ???? fan’s let us support our team’s for the future of the club wa Alhamdulilullah Allah makum
Raheem Sterling is human Bullying him makes no sense. He didn’t miss it intentionally.Move on Chelsea.
Sterling is human and as such is bound to make mistakes!
Let’s not forget that his former coach Guardiola sometimes this season envied him for not to have showcased his terlent the way he has been doing while he was with him as he was asked to say about him immediay in his pot match brief when we played Manvity realiat in the city, so if he commits mistake I see no reason why he dhoui be forgiven having known that he loves writing the right way in football better than us as the “twelvrth player”!
