What struck me was: Gusto reveals advice he received from £110k-a-week Chelsea teammate

Malo Gusto has enjoyed a remarkable debut season in England with Chelsea.

The 20-year-old signed for Chelsea from French side Lyon last January, even though the move was actually completed later in the summer.

Since his transfer, Gusto has thrown in wonderful displays on a consistent basis, but according to him, having a player like Thiago Silva, who has played at a top level for so many years at Chelsea has made things easier for him.

“What struck me when I first arrived was that, at his age, he’s focused on everything he does. He arrives at training early, leaves late and pays great attention to his body,” Malo Gusto told Le Parisien of when speaking about Thiago Silva.

“That’s what inspires me about him. We’ve talked about a lot of things, his career, his time in Paris [at PSG], and he really pushes me to pay attention to every detail and to listen to my body, because it’s our work tool.

“I had some minor physical problems at the start of the season, and he always told me to focus all my recovery on listening to my body, to give it what it needs without being in a hurry to come back or do too much. Just be with it.”

Given his age, Gusto has many more years to give to Chelsea, and that is something many fans are happy about.

It is just unfortunate that Silva is likely leaving the Bridge at the end of this season, with his current deal set to expire in June, but hopefully, the two will continue to stay in touch, even when they become apart.
