Mauricio Pochettino has congratulated Conor Gallagher on receiving a call-up to the England national team, ahead of the Three Lions’ upcoming friendly games against Brazil and Belgium later this month.

Gallagher is one of three Chelsea players that have been invited for the matches, with Ben Chilwell and Cole Palmer also called up.

Gallagher’s inclusion in Gareth Southgate’s squad comes off the back of the brilliant campaign he’s enjoying with Chelsea, which has seen him play all but one league game this season.

Reacting to news of Gallagher’s England invitation, Pochettino said at a press conference on Friday afternoon: “He is convincing the manager of England because his commitment is always 200% in every single appearance and training.

“He needs to keep performing and with this commitment always. It is one of his best skills, he has capacity always to be ready to fight, help and show quality. He needs to keep believing and trying to improve.”

Despite the fine form he’s showing at Chelsea this term, Gallagher may end up getting sold at the end of the season, as his future at Stamford Bridge remains uncertain, with his current deal set to expire next year.
