Trevoh Chalobah hails Chelsea player for taking the pressure off his teammates. It’s not Cole Palmer

Chelsea is a team that is blessed with an abundance of talented players. The team may not be consistently playing well just yet, but there’s plenty of belief that things will change for the better in no distant future, as Cole Palmer himself recently said.

Palmer is obviously one of those players that just light up the stadium when they’re in action, but so is Nicolas Jackson, even if some fans don’t seem to see him in that light yet.

The Senegal international has come up with important contributions for the Blues so far this season, including 12 goals in 31 games across all competitions.

It is also necessary to point out that the 22-year-old was bought for just £32m from Villarreal last summer, so for a debut season, that return isn’t bad at all.

Trevoh Chalobah is certainly one of the Blues players that have been impressed by what he’s seen from Jackson, and the 24-year-old spared no words in highlighting the importance of the striker recently.

Jackson continued to prove he’s improved his overall game on Monday night, as Chelsea ran out 3-2 winners in a Premier League meeting with Newcastle United.

The forward picked up a great goal in the win too, flicking a Cole Palmer shot into the net after six minutes of play. But aside from scoring, Jackson’s link-up play was brilliant, as acknowledged by Chalobah in a post-match interview.

When discussing Jackson, Chalobah said: “He is a very good player, getting the goals this season. He brings that dimension of going in behind and taking players in behind which is very good to take the pressure off other players.

“If you have a striker who is willing to run in behind a lot it helps us. That is the side of the game that he brings and he’s adding goals which is good.”

Out of the 12 goals that Jackson has scored for Chelsea this season, nine have come in the Premier League, and with 11 games still to be played, the former La Liga star can surely reach double figures for his new club.
