Cucurella tells critics: We’re improving under Pochettino

Marc Cucurella has insisted that Chelsea are doing well under Mauricio Pochettino this season.

The Argentine has come under fire lately for a string of unimpressive displays by Chelsea, who narrowly got defeated by Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final last month.

Pochettino’s job is said to be on the line, unless results improve, and the Blues have responded to the 2-2 draw against Brentford the other week with a hard-fought 3-2 win over Newcastle on Monday.

Speaking after the game, Marc Cucurella told NBC Sports: “I think the team deserved the win.

“We controlled the game well, we conceded two easy goals in the game but I think it’s part of the game. It’s very important for us, and on Sunday we have another important game.”

“I think we have always clear objectives and the style he wants to play.

“I think always it’s difficult because we have a lot of new players, players in their first season in the Premier League and it is one of the most difficult leagues.

“This is a process. We are not happy enough with the results yet, but we have another 10 or 15 games to finish the season, we can finish in the best way.”

Cucurella came back from injury at the right time, as Ben Chilwell and Levi Colwill are currently out.
