Cole Palmer has no doubts that Mauricio Pochettino will become a popular figure with fans at Chelsea if given the time.

The Chelsea boss has had to endure massive pressure from fans of the Blues after struggling to improve the situation of the club since his appointment last year.

Chelsea are 11th on the Premier League table after 27 matches, but Palmer insists the players love their manager Pochettino, and it’s only a matter of time before the fans do the same.

Palmer, who scored and assisted in Chelsea’s 3-2 win against Newcastle on Monday night told BBC MOTD: “When they scored we thought we better defend better than we did than when we conceded. It was a great goal [from Jacob Murphy], but to get three points is a step in the right direction.”

“We know as a team the quality they have, them [Jackson and Mudryk] performing is really encouraging. Of course scoring a goal like they did would give anyone confidence.

“It’s important again we win football matches, the fans will be happy and we have to try do that.

“The way he [Pochettino] treats us everyday the players love him and I’m sure the fans will as a result.”
