Chelsea youngster, Alfie Gilchrist has reacted to being tagged a ‘no-nonsense’ defender by fans and pundits.
The 20-year-old has seen a surge in his reputation recently, after making his debut for the Blues.
In a recent chat with the club media, the centre back joked that the tag is probably a direct consequence of his haircut, which tends to depict him as the main character from the ‘Hitman’ franchise.
He told the club’s official website: “Yeah, it’s a good comparison to no-nonsense, old-school defender. It’s probably because of my haircut.
“If I had long hair, probably, no one would be saying that.”
Gilchrist also spoke about his connection with Chelsea fans, adding: “I have a good connection with Chelsea fans because I’m one of them so I know what they like and what behaviours and what a Chelsea player should look like.
“Being surrounded by [Chelsea academy] graduates that are now captains means a lot. Obviously that’s an ambition for me since I was young.”
Alfie Gilchrist has now made 11 appearances for Chelsea across all competitions, with three of them coming as starts in the FA Cup.
