Malo Gusto has made it known he’s very happy with the opportunity to play with Thiago Silva at Chelsea.
The duo have lined up alongside each other on numerous occasions this season, even though that could stop soon if the Brazilian’s contract isn’t renewed before the end of June.
Despite being 39 years old and counting, Thiago Silva has remained solid as ever for the Blues, but beyond his impressive work on the pitch, the defender also tries to help his teammates with the little details of the game whenever he can, according to Malo Gusto.
“He is a legend – he is like my dad,” the 20-year-old told the official Chelsea website when discussing his relationship with Siva.
“He has helped the team a lot because he has very good experience – a lot of football in great competitions. It’s a pleasure to play with him at Chelsea.
“When I make a mistake, he tells me like my dad but that has helped me a lot. He helps with the small details and I think football is about the small details.
“At a good team like Chelsea, you have to speak a lot and that is what he has tried to tell me, Axel [Disasi], Chilwell and Levi [Colwill] as well. He has tried to push us and he does this really well.”
Gusto has been equally impressive since joining Chelsea from Lyon last summer. The right-back has played more regularly than even he would have expected at the start of the season, due to the injuries suffered by Reece James, and judging by what he’s done so far, the Chelsea skipper is in for serious competition when he returns in the coming weeks.
