Mauricio Pochettino has revealed he was left disappointed after Chelsea’s 2-2 result against Brentford last weekend.

The Blues went from a leading position to being 2-1 down at the GTech stadium, before Axel Disasi rescued the team with a late equaliser.

However, while some saw the point as a fair result, knowing it could have ended in defeat, Pochettino said he was very unhappy, and even had to cancel dinner with his wife as a consequence.

According to Pochettino, his decision to cancel the date ‘killed his wife’.

“Saturday, after the Brentford game, the draw was like a loss”, Pochettino said at a press conference.

“It killed my wife because I cancelled our dinner. I said I don’t want to go for a dinner, I wanted to stay at home.

“I was lucky because my coaching staff was with me then. We finished the day watching Real Madrid versus Valencia, had more wine, but no excitement. Only watching more football.

“Last few days I was watching all the games. I was not only watching the Champions League and the Championship. I was also watching the Asian Champions League — Al Hilal-Al Ittihad, Al Ain-Al Nassr. I was watching different games.”

Pochettino also said: “It’s true she’s not happy with me, but she know very well that the mood is not very good. When the mood is not good, it’s not easy for the family.

“The responsibility is to win and provide good feelings to the fans. You feel the responsibility when things are not so good.”
