Mauricio Pochettino has revealed he and his coaching team must now come up with other ideas on how to beat Newcastle United on Monday, after it was confirmed on Thursday, that three of his senior players are now likely to miss the clash at Stamford Bridge.
Conor Gallagher, Levi Colwill and Ben Chilwell are all down with health-related issues, and are set to be unavailable to face the Magpies.
To make up for the deficit in manpower, Pochettino has already called up nine academy stars to take part in first team training, but the Argentine insists there’s more to be done.
Speaking ahead of the Newcastle game, the Chelsea boss told reporters: “The most important thing is to work on us. I am concentrated on our performance and the way we are going to deal, now, without two or three starters from the last game.
“So we’ll need different solutions to deal with these injuries. Maybe we see if (Marc) Cucurella arrives in good condition or if we need to change the way we play.
“We have been focused in the last three days on providing the team the best balance with all the possibility to be consistent and perform in the way we need to perform.
“Of course, we know Newcastle and can assess Newcastle, but the most important thing is the balance we are going to find the balance in the team, be consistent and perform in the way we need to perform.”
Chelsea will play Newcastle in the last game of the match weekend at Stamford Bridge next Monday.
