Chelsea have decided against pursuing a move for Brentford forward, Ivan Toney, despite the England international making it clear he’s ready to step up to a new challenge at this stage of his career.

Toney, who recently returned from a lengthy match suspension in the Premier League, has been impressive for the Bees since he came back, scoring four goals in eight games.

However, despite his form, Chelsea have opted to look elsewhere to fill their goalscoring needs, even though Ivan Toney is desperate for a move.

According to Fabrizio Romano, who wrote in his column for Caught Offside, Toney’s age (27 and counting) might have played a role in Chelsea’s decision.

Meanwhile, the Blues continue to be linked with Napoli’s Victor Osimhen, who has scored 13 times across all competitions this season.

The Nigerian will however cost a lot of money to get, after signing an extension with the Serie A club, and now carries a release clause believed to be around £100m.
