Mauricio Pochettino is determined to retain his job as manager of Chelsea, despite the tough situation he has found himself in after seven months in charge.
The Argentine has seen his Chelsea side remain stuck in mid-table after 26 Premier League games this season. For context, the Blues finished last season in 12th place, so they have barely made any progress under the 52-year-old’s leadership.
The Blues’ latest result was a 2-2 draw with Brentford last weekend— a game they almost lost after taking a first-half lead – and had to rely on a late equaliser from Axel Disasi to salvage something from it.
Pressure on Pochettino has increased considerably in the last week, with the West Londoners also losing 1-0 to Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final on February 25.
Boos and chants of ‘f*** off’ echoed through the GTech stadium, as Chelsea struggled with Brentford on Saturday, proving that the fans have lost their patience with Pochettino.
However, The Standard reports that the former Tottenham coach wants to stay on and try to fight to win the fans back to his side.
The Blues will play Newcastle United in the league next Monday, and things could get worse for Pochettino if he doesn’t get a win, with the outlet also claiming that former Bayern bosses, Hansi Flick and Julian Nagelsmann are among the candidates to replace him at Stamford Bridge if he does get the sack.
