Cole Palmer has a new Chelsea record, following his involvement in the Blues’ 2-2 draw with Brentford on Saturday.
To be honest, the 21-year-old had an underwhelming outing by his standards, but he still managed to pick up an assist after whipping in the cross that led to Chelsea’s equaliser through Axel Disasi during the dying stages of the match at the GTech.
With the assist, Palmer now has a total of 17 goal contributions for Chelsea (10 goals, seven assists) in the Premier League this season, which is the highest any player, 21 or under has ever produced for the club in a single league season, according to Squawka.
Arjen Robben previously held the record from the 2004-05 season, when he scored seven and assisted nine.
It’s good to see Cole Palmer setting this record, as it’s only a testament to how good he can be with each season.
Meanwhile, Nicolas Jackson has now scored eight league goals this season – equalling the best goal-scoring seasons of both Romelu Lukaku and Kai Havertz in the Premier League for Chelsea.
Obviously, the Senegal international still has a lot of learning to do, but if he continues to score as much as he has since the AFCON, he might actually reach 15 goals before the end of the current campaign.
