Mauricio Pochettino believes his Chelsea stars need to be cut some slack, following their 2-2 draw with Brentford over the weekend.

The Blues were slammed by angry fans, who also chanted for former Chelsea owner, Roman Abramovich, and ex-manager, Jose Mourinho to return to the club, after the game at the GTech stadium.

However, Mauricio Pochettino believes that some of the fans haven’t been realistic in their assessment of his side, who had played two games in six days, prior to the match against Brentford.

He told reporters: “I think we need to put it in context. Even if sometimes people do not listen, it is our third game in six days, with Leeds and Brentford always having the advantage of a few days more to prepare for the game against us.

“When you are a little bit short in the squad like we are with some players recovering, it’s always difficult.

“We are going to fight for our place and for our position.”
