It would have been a horrifying night for Mauricio Pochettino, had Conor Gallagher not scored a 90th minute winner against Championship high flyers, Leeds United.

Chelsea played host to Leeds United in an FA Cup fifth round tie at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night.

It wasn’t an easy start for Chelsea, as Mateo Joseph gave the visitors the lead after 8 minutes.

Nicolas Jackson gave an almost instant response, as he levelled for Chelsea seven minutes later, finishing off an assist from Moises Caicedo.

After a rough start, Chelsea grew into ascendancy, and dominated most part of the first-half. The Blues then took the lead, after Mykhailo Mudryk finished off a fine cut back from Raheem Sterling to make it 2-1 in the 35th minute.

Chelsea’s second-half display was far from encouraging, as Leeds United started the half stronger of the two sides. Mateo Joseph headed home for Leeds just before the hour mark to make it 2-2.

Maurici Pochettino would ring some changes, as he brought on Ben Chilwell and Conor Gallagher for Malo Gusto and Noni Madueke respectively.

Pochettino’s changes didn’t make the desired  impact, as Leeds looked the side more likely to score.

It was after the introduction of Cole Palmer in the 74th minute that Chelsea started to show some momentum. Substitute, Conor Gallagher would then produce a fine control and finish in the 90th minute to give Chelsea the victory.

Chelsea are now through to the FA Cup quarter-final. This would give Mauricio Pochettino and his players a boost, and it would have been embarrassing had Chelsea failed to beat Leeds United, after losing the Carabao Cup final against Liverpool young kids.
