Cole Palmer has revealed he’s in pain after Chelsea’s narrow 1-0 defeat to Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final on Sunday evening.

Virgil van Dijk scored the only goal of the match in the 28th minute of extra time, as Chelsea tried to drag the game to a penalty shootout.

The Blues had numerous opportunities to win the match in normal time, though, but their poor finishing cost them, and they’ll now feel very disappointed with the result.

Cole Palmer is one of the first Chelsea players to publicly acknowledge his feeling after he took to social media share his feeling of ‘pain’ with the fans.

The 21-year-old posted an image from the match on his Instagram account, and wrote alongside it: “Pain. We’ll be back! thanks to the fans for the support.”

Palmer will particularly be unhappy he missed one of the biggest chances of the game in the first half when the scoreline was still 0-0. But like the player has noted, it’s just one setback, and Chelsea still have a chance at winning something this season if they can make it to the final of the FA Cup, starting with the fifth round fixture with Leeds United this week.
