Mauricio Pochettino is not at all bothered by Chelsea’s upcoming Carabao Cup final against Liverpool.
The Blues will take on Jurgen Klopp’s men at Wembley on Sunday for a chance to win their first trophy this season.
Despite missing a few key players to injuries, Liverpool remain clear favourites for the game, but Mauricio Pochettino insists he’s not bothered.
“I am so relaxed,” Pochettino told chelseafc.com. “I’m 51 years old, I am more experienced, I’ve played finals in Paris – I think the approach is very calm and relaxed. Of course, we go to work and when the moment arrives to play, then we will start to feel the adrenaline and of course, we want to win.
“But, like I told the players, we need to start the game at 3pm on Sunday. If we started thinking about the game one week before then we would spend too much energy.
“Preparing for the game is different from starting the game because we are preparing in a really good way. We are so happy with how things are going this week. We are going to arrive in a very good condition to challenge Liverpool.”
He continued: “We are Chelsea and we want to go there and compete with the same tools.
“I am the first to say that Liverpool is amazing and Klopp is one of the best coaches in the world. But after my last experience, playing there [at Anfield], what I want at Wembley is to go there and nobody feels the pressure. The game is played on the same level and the best team will win.
“We want to win because we are Chelsea. And, of course, Liverpool want to win. But no other part involved in the game should feel part of the celebration for Klopp. That is important.”
