Man United co-owner claims Manchester United are bigger than Chelsea – after failing to buy Chelsea two years ago

Manchester United co-owner, Sir Jim Ratcliffe has claimed that Manchester United are a bigger football club than Chelsea, and in fact, the gap between them is ‘incomparable’.

Ratcliffe recently bought a 27.7% stake in United, which makes him a major shareholder at the club.

The move comes less than two years after the English billionaire failed in his attempt to buy Chelsea from ex-owner, Roman Abramovich, who eventually sold the club to Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital for £4.25b.

Ratcliffe was recently asked about his failed pursuit of Chelsea, and what he had to say was (via Fabrizio Romano): “There is no comparison between Chelsea and Manchester United.

“The scale of Manchester United is incomparable to any of the London clubs to be honest with you…”

We don’t know about you, but something tells us that Ratcliffe wouldn’t be saying those things about Chelsea if he actually succeeded in his bid to take over at Stamford Bridge.
