Axel Disasi has revealed what he considers his favourite moment from Chelsea’s Carabao Cup run so far this season.
The Blues are set to face Liverpool for a chance to win the competition this Sunday, but it hasn’t been an easy journey to this point for Mauricio Pochettino’s men, who had to overcome some really difficult oppositions to get here, including comeback wins against Newcastle United and Middlesbrough.
Chelsea almost crashed out at the semi-final stage after losing 1-0 to Boro in the first leg, and had to play some great football to overturn the deficit, with a stunning 6-1 return leg victory at Stamford Bridge.
Disasi played a part in that victory, not just by defending well, but also by scoring for the Blues, which for him, is his best moment in the tournament this season.
In a chat with the official Chelsea website, ahead of this Sunday’s final at Wembley, the centre back said of his goal: “When I got the ball I had the opportunity to continue my run and score.
“It was a nice goal and a different feeling from my first goal against Liverpool. It was great and it was a nice night for us.
“I was very happy to win the game and go to the final.”
Axel Disasi also revealed his desire to win trophies with Chelsea, as he went on: “For me, to have the opportunity to win a trophy in my first year at Chelsea is great, but I knew that by coming here I would get chances like this. We have this opportunity as a club, we will do everything to win this trophy.”
After another stellar display for Chelsea in the 1-1 draw with Manchester City last weekend, Disasi is expected to partner Levi Colwill at the heart of the Blues’ defence again on Sunday, as they aim to win a first trophy for the club in nearly two years.
