Chelsea’s vice-captain, Ben Chilwell has stressed the need for the club to win the Carabao Cup when they meet Liverpool in the final at Wembley this Sunday.
The Blues have played in three domestic Cup finals since Chilwell arrived at Stamford Bridge from Leicester City in 2020, and won none.
Two of those finals involved both the FA Cup and Carabao Cup, which Chelsea lost to Liverpool in 2022.
“The feelings when you lift a trophy, there is nothing else like it,” Ben Chilwell told the Carabao Cup ahead of the showdown with Liverpool. “It literally is what you work at from such a young age to then be able to lift the biggest trophies.
“Domestically, I haven’t won a trophy yet. I know these opportunities are difficult to come by, they don’t come around often.
“Three times in a domestic cup final and three losses [since I joined the club], so I think it’s time that we won one.”
Chilwell has won the UEFA Champions League, Super Cup, and FIFA Club World Cup, but Sunday’s game presents both him and his Chelsea teammates with an opportunity to win their first domestic trophy, especially after the difficulties the club has endured this season.
You guys winning this very one man. In Jesus Christ Mighty Name Amen. Just go and have it brought back to Chelsea where it belong.
