Alan Pardew has stated that Chelsea will need Nicolas Jackson to turn up and play his best if they’re to beat Liverpool, and win the Carabao Cup on Sunday.
Nicolas Jackson has seemed a much-better player since returning from the AFCON.
The 22-year-old has often come under criticism for his inability to finish off opportunities effectively, as well as his poor link up play, but those aspects of his game have seen some improvement in recent weeks.
Jackson provided Raheem Sterling with the assist that led to his first-half goal against Manchester City last weekend, and kept the reigning champions on their toes for the entire duration he was on the pitch.
The striker has now come in for some praise for that display from former Newcastle manager, Pardew, who also seems to think the forward can be vital to Chelsea winning the Carabao Cup later this weekend.
“I thought Jackson played the centre-forward role [against Man City] the best he’s played since he’s been Chelsea. He linked the game,” Pardew told talkSPORT.
When asked how Chelsea can beat Liverpool, Pardew said: “Jackson, in my opinion, is the key. If he can link the game like he did Saturday, he really linked it well, then you’ve got a springboard then for Sterling and Gallagher to get on to things.”
Jackson has chipped in with nine goals and three assists in his debut season with Chelsea, and it truly can only get better from here, if the Senegal International continues to work hard, and pay deaf ears to detractors.
That my boy Jack with son.. He is gonna get better.. world class someday, oneday..bring the Caraboa home guys.. God Almighty is on your side..
Jackson plays better on wings but direct attacks his weak. Let the coach take note of that
