Conor Gallagher has been in outstanding form for Chelsea this season. In fact, he is certainly one of two or three players we can say are in contention for the club’s ‘Player of the Season’ award so far.
However, despite his contributions to Chelsea this season, the 24-year-old’s future remains unsorted with just one more year remaining in his contract with the cub.
It has been claimed by some outlets that Todd Boehly wants to sell Gallagher in order to raise some money for Chelsea this summer, and save them from potential FFP sanctions. This is part of the reasons the midfielder is yet to get a new deal, despite being a clear fan favourite.
According to journalist, Ben Jacobs, Conor Gallagher is not comfortable with his future hanging in the balance, and wants things sorted before this summer so he can focus on other things.
With the 2024 European Championship coming up later this year, the England international is aware he could get a call-up from Gareth Southgate, and wouldn’t want to be worrying about his Chelsea future while playing at the tournament.
Jacobs told GiveMeSport: “It’s likely that Gallagher will just want a settled end to the season and then, if he is selected for the European Championships, go and play for England before resolving his future.
“When I speak to the player’s camp, they would much prefer a new contract to either be put on the table early, so he can be settled and not have to enter the summer in a saga, or any suitors may have to wait until after the European Championships if new contract talks don’t progress because Gallagher doesn’t want to have a difficult and stressful situation.”
Keeping Conor Gallagher should be high in priority for Todd Boehly and Chelsea; the energy he brings per game is unmatched.
