Axel Disasi has warned Chelsea not to rest on their laurels, despite the recent improvements in their performance.
The Blues picked up a 1-1 draw with Manchester City at the Etihad on Saturday evening – after beating both Aston Villa and Crystal Palace 3-1 in the FA Cup and Premier League, respectively.
Naturally, there’s been a feeling of positivity among the players and the fans, but Disasi thinks the team must continue to work hard.
Axel Disasi has now urged his Chelsea teammates not to be laid back and rest on their laurels. The Frenchman was a beast against Man City and put in a man of the match display.
“The last three games have been good but we have to stay humble and keep going as we are now and push forward,” the French defender told the Evening Standard.
“Since the start of the season there have been a lot of expectations, just because we played well in the last three games doesn’t mean we should say, ‘Chelsea are back’.
“No, we have to stay humble, but you can see we are growing and improving. We have to stay like this, stay humble, and keep this level.
“Next is the final and we have to learn from this game. We showed we can take a lot of confidence before the next game. We need to rest and prepare for this final very well.”
Chelsea have the Carabao Cup final coming up against Liverpool this weekend, and there will be no better way for the players to show they have truly put their difficult days behind them than by bringing the trophy back with them to Stamford Bridge.
With Disasi playing like a lion at the back against Man City, he could be trusted for the final ahead of the experienced Thiago Silva.
