Pochettino explains why he has been benching Mudryk so much

Mauricio Pochettino has explained the reason he’s been benching Mykhailo Mudryk lately.

Mudryk has barely started a match for Chelsea in the last two months after a string of poor displays. And Pochettino has now insisted the Ukrainian needs to improve in some areas.

The Argentine told a press conference: “Because it is part of the evolution, the development.

“I think that you need to feel sometimes the pain when they don’t play, young guys also, because it’s always so easy and it’s difficult to grow, be more mature and find out how to improve.

“I think the most important thing is how you are going to manage this situation and then it’s always up to him to push the limit, or reach the limit we think that they have. It’s always a massive challenge for our coaching staff.”

With Christopher Nkunku back from injury and Cole Palmer in good form, Mudryk has a lot to do to impress Pochettino. He’s also behind Noni Madueke and Raheem Sterling, as well as Nicolas Jackson who can play out wide.
