William Gallas has given his backing to Chelsea to sign Victor Osimhen this summer, while comparing the Napoli striker to the legendary Didier Drogba.

Osimhen is expected to leave Naples at the end of the season, amid interest in his services from both Chelsea and Arsenal.

The Blues were linked with a move for the 25-year-old ahead of the winter transfer window, but he ended up signing a contract extension with Napoli.

Osimhen’s release clause is said to be standing at a whopping £111m, which could prove to be a challenge for Chelsea to pay, judging by how much they’ve spent in the last four transfer windows.

The Nigerian has made it clear his mind is already made up on what his next move will be, and former Chelsea defender, Gallas, has now backed him to succeed in the Premier League if he joins the Blues.

“I think they will sign Victor Osimhen in the summer,” Gallas told Genting Casino.

“I don’t know Victor that well as a person but he’s similar to Drogba. Didier was so strong but with Osimhen, he is also very quick.

“I’m sure he’ll do a lot of damage in the Premier League.”

“Chelsea have so many players and that is a problem. They need to sell players because it’s a mess at Chelsea at the moment,” he added.

“I don’t know a lot about their financial situation but they need to figure out which players should stay and which players should leave.

“In the Premier League, some clubs loan in players to replace players they have sold for more money but when you look at the situation with Enzo [Fernandez] and [Moises] Caicedo, they bought them for £100m, how much can they sell them for? Not much!”

Victor Osimhen signing for Chelsea will be a big move, as the team creates lots of chances but doesn’t have a goalscorer.
