Chelsea will visit Manchester City this weekend at the Etihad Stadium, as Mauricio Pochettino visits the Etihad Stadium for the first time as a Chelsea manager.
It’s a tough game for the Blues, and Chelsea will be without a number of important players.
Pochettino has confirmed that Thiago Silva and Carney Chukwuemeka will both miss tomorrow’s match against Manchester City.
“It’s a minor injury for Thiago but I think he’s out for tomorrow and is not available,” explained Pochettino.
“After this game we don’t know, we will need to assess him day by day.
“Carney suffered a twisted ankle two days ago and he’s out, but Levi and Malo are okay. They recovered well and they are available for tomorrow.”
Pochettino also spoke about young midfielder Cesare Casadei, who was doing well on loan with Leicester City, but had to be recalled.
Casadei made his Chelsea debut as a substitute at Liverpool.
Pochettino said: “It was a tough decision because he was playing at Leicester and we didn’t want to cut his development, but with the injuries for Romeo Lavia, Lesley Ugochukwu and Carney Chukwuemeka we felt we needed another midfielder.
“In the squad it is only Enzo, Moi and Conor and not another real midfielder.
“We spoke with him, we explained the situation, that maybe we will use him or not, and it was his decision to come back.
“He was so keen to come back to Chelsea to help us in any way, that is why we took the decision together to make him again a part of the squad.
“We played some FA Cup and Carabao Cup games in this period and he wasn’t available because he already played in them for Leicester, which was bad luck for him and for us, but now he is going to be involved in the Premier League games.”
Pochettino guided Chelsea to a 4-4 draw in a thrilling fixture at Stamford Bridge last year.
