There’s a lot of expectation on Cole Palmer ahead of Chelsea’s visit to Manchester City.
It’s Palmer’s first visit to the Etihad Stadium, since leaving last summer – a ground he’s known all his life.
Palmer did well against City at Stamford Bridge, and Blues boss Mauricio Pochettino is expecting more of the same from the 21-year-old.
Pochettino believes Cole Palmer has the quality to handle the pressure ahead of the game. Palmer impressed beyond doubts in the reverse fixture at Stamford Bridge
Pochettino said: “He’s not this type of player who needs to prove anything.
“He’s very grateful for his period at Manchester City and he left the club because he wanted to find another challenge or have the possibility to play more.
“He’s adapted very well and he’s lucky because he’s playing a lot of games here. He’s going to be there trying to play and perform for himself and for his team.
“He is like a South American in the way he has the capacity to adapt so quick. Sometimes maybe people here in England move from the north to the south and find it difficult to adapt and suffer.
“He arrived at the club and I think that was the key, he adapted very quickly to life here in Cobham and London and the club. That allowed him to show his talent.
“There is a word in Spanish which describes him but I don’t know how to explain it in English. It’s between smart, clever, naughty.
“He’s so emotionally intelligent and he’s going to go there and play. He could play good or not so good, but it won’t be because of the pressure.”
